The most dangerous room in your home is the bathroom. The statistics are fairly conclusive, most injuries at home happen in the bathroom, but fortunately, there are things that you can do to make sure your bathroom is as safe as it can be, minimizing the risk of injury.

One of the major dangers that you face in the bathroom is that of a slippery surface that could cause you to fall. To lessen the risk of this, you want to keep the water where it is supposed to be. Make sure you have a good shower liner that keeps the water away from the floor and fix any leaking fixtures as soon as possible.

Installing anti-slip stickers in your tub can make it safer as well.

If you have a mat in your bathroom, that should have an anti-slip surface to keep it from shifting when you walk on it.

Another useful addition to the bathroom, especially for older ones, is a bar for support. Whether you need one in the shower to have good support when stepping in and out, or near the toilet to keep you stable when sitting down and getting up, these bars can be life-savers, but they need to be firmly attached to a stud to be able to carry enough weight.
